Show students the images of slave auctions. Ask specific questions such as:

• Why were slave sold?
• How were they sold?
• Were they able to stay with their friends and family?
• Why were they given new names?

Students should look closely at the sale posters where slaves are described as goods along with other produce for sale.

They can write all the emotions they feel about in injustices revealed in these images on post-it notes and stick them around a printed copy of one of the images.
