Valley Plantation, 1787

This is an inventory or list of slaves on the Valley Plantation, St John's, in 1787. African captives were included in inventories along with land, buildings, stock and equipment belonging to a plantation. The names of the enslaved, and their value in pounds sterling has been written out again on the right hand side to make them more legible. The personal qualities of the slaves and their skills are described in some detail.
